During our mission week in Santa Cruz de Yojoa, Honduras, we had the privilege of serving the community in various ways—from soccer tournaments and school outreach to the express construction of a church building in just five days. However, one of the most tangible expressions of God’s love and compassion was experienced through our reading glasses and medical clinics.

Stationed at Colegio Canadiense, we opened our doors to welcome hundreds of community members who came seeking physical relief, only to find an even deeper healing for their lives.

For four consecutive days, we hosted our reading glasses clinic. We had a wide variety of reading glasses ready for people to try on and receive free of charge. Many local residents arrived struggling to read fine print, complete daily tasks, or enjoy reading God’s Word.

Our team helped each person try on the right pair of reading glasses for their needs. Handing them their glasses and watching their faces light up as they regained clarity while reading was a deeply moving experience.

On the final day, we held our medical clinic, designed especially to care for the local children. Recognizing the needs of the whole family, we also welcomed parents who accompanied their children and needed a medical checkup or blood pressure monitoring:

For our team, physical healthcare and providing reading glasses were a bridge of love to address the most important need: the health of the soul. We understand that a person’s greatest needs are not just physical, but spiritual.

To make this possible, we had a dedicated team of believers trained specifically for outreach. As soon as individuals finished their care (whether trying on reading glasses or completing a medical consultation), they met with our volunteers, who took time to listen to their stories, pray for their families, and share the message of the Gospel.

God backed every conversation in an extraordinary way:

Seeing nearly two hundred people find eternal salvation while receiving medical care or reading glasses reminds us that the Gospel transforms lives when demonstrated with love and compassion.
