Living Water: Transforming Hearts Across the Ngäbe-Buglé Comarca

The Reflection of Our Soul

Imagine, for a moment, a glass of water taken directly from a murky river. It is filled with sediment, impurities, and darkness. This is the truest representation of a life without Christ: weighed down by the burden of sin, hopelessness, and the wounds of this world.

During our recent visits to various communities across the Comarca, we carried a message that goes far beyond humanitarian aid. We used a water filter to demonstrate a profound spiritual truth. As that dirty water passes through the filter, the result is immediate: it becomes crystal clear, pure, and life-giving.

But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. — John 4:14

This is the work of Jesus Christ. He is the divine filter who, upon entering our lives, processes our brokenness and restores us to purity, peace, and a new purpose.

A Need that Touches the Heart

The Ngäbe-Buglé Region is a land of breathtaking natural beauty, yet it is also a place of extreme hardship. The lack of access to clean drinking water is a daily reality that jeopardizes the health of both children and the elderly. By providing these filter-equipped buckets, we aren’t just mitigating a physical crisis — we are opening the door to quench the spiritual thirst of a people crying out for hope.

Throughout the day, we held special kids’ services. Seeing the pure joy on their faces while they engaged with the Word of God confirms that we are planting seeds in fertile soil. These children are the future of the Church in the Comarca; reaching them with a message that is both clear and engaging is at the heart of what we do.

The screening of The Jesus Film. In the stillness of the night, the message of the Savior’s sacrifice resonated powerfully. The impact was immediate and profound. Through the film alone, 76 people gave their lives to Christ, surrendering to the love they saw reflected on the screen.

A Harvest of Blessing: The Fruit of the Journey

God moved in a supernatural way in every community we visited. We didn’t just deliver physical filters; we bore witness as hundreds of people chose to let Jesus filter their lives.

More Than a Conversion, a New Beginning.

Witnessing the Cacique and the Shaman embrace Christ in Coclesito serves as a powerful reminder that no one is ever beyond the reach of grace. Who would have thought that a simple bucket of water could become the bridge for a Shaman and a Chief to find the Source of Living Water?
